Themes of Social Realism

Themes:

Social Class
Shows the working class lifestyle, it explores the situations of how working class live and there poverty. An example of this is Fish Tank, were its based around ruth estate where the unemplayment is rieth and the main characters mum is a single parent.


Violence

This theme explores the ways in which violence can be distributed such as domestic violence, child abuse  gang culre and violent vocabulary. An example of this is scum, where a youth is put in a young offenders unit, whre  uses violence ad fear to become powerfull in the unit.  

Sexuality
Sexuality within a social realist is based on types of sexuality and how there discover sex and there sexuality. An example of this is M beautiful laundrette, he discovers he is gay and facing the problems form his family and the abuse he will be given.



Gender Roles & Relationship
This theme involves Broken relationships in a family between the husband and wife, it also includes betrayal between a couple. And also the steeoypial roles of a cirtain gender, eg a women would be a house wife and the male would bring in the income.
An example of relationship in a british social realism is the film Nil By Mouth it explores the problem of a broken marriege. Where a envyous husband commits domestic violence towards his wife.



Addition
This theme explores the addiction main addictions such as drug,drinking,violence and smocking . An example of a film that explores addiction is trianspotting, it does this by showing the daily life of a drugy and how they live to take drugs. To match the drug taking, the effects in the film are very surreal.

British Politics
This theme mny used to show the views of people that are agianst the goverment. The theme also explares how the goverment impacts on social classes, the main one being working class.
An example of this is the film Hunger were a man has views which are agianst the goverment and goes on a hunger strike in the prison.

Immagration
This theme has a mix of other themes, such has tackling the difficaulties of fitting into society. Coping with racism is also involves in this film. It also involves aspiration to towards the main character when they try and achieve something in life and over coming the probelms they may face.  example for the theme is the film Bigga Than Ben which is about to immagrants trying to fraud the most out of the brittish money system.

Growing up and Aspiration
This theme is when a character trysand escapes a situation which  yoyu have grown up in, they want to achieve the best they can and be better than there generartion.
An example of this is Billy Elliot how he grows up to achieve his talent, and his dream in dancing in the royal Royal ballay.

Race, Ethnicity & Cultural Tensions
This theme is basically cultural tensions in a family and clash of culturs, examples of this is Snatch and east is east. When themes clash of different cultures such as
