Part 1

We had been approached by film4 and they told us to make a new British social realist film aimed at persons 16-24 years old. To give Film 4 an idea of how are film was going to develop we had to produce the first two minutes of the film, we had to include a clear sense of graphical, editing and musical style to me film will use. Due to film 4 being associated with the social realist genre we had to base the film around the conventions which are related to British social realism. The brief also stated to keep cost low and all visual and audio must be of our own.

The title of our production was called 'Wheel Power' this title actually is play on words, because the main has to find the will power to combat her new life after being paralyzed, and the title is spelt wheel instead of will because wheel relates to her being in a wheelchair.
In our opening two minutes of our production we first see the main character playing basketball this lets the audience know of her life before and lets them build a bond, we then cut to her waking up in the hospital and her friend relays the story of what happens to her and while she does this the main character has flashbacks we then see her friend leave and the doctor announces the news that she is paralyzed.
Our production explores the themes of disability due to the character becoming disabled. It also explores theme of working class which film4 often related to in there film an example of this is 'This Is England' are film explores this by filming in a location such as an urban park. The mise en scene also connotes the theme of working class, due to the graffiti shown in the opening scene and what the main character is also wearing. We also show the theme of ethnicity due to the range of different races and cultures.
